Does anyone know who or what site that I can go to if I had a new item that I wanted to put on the market that would be in the mobile entertainment category? I've e-mailed a brief overview of the item to several different companies but have had no luck so far , does anyone have an idea or know of anyone who could be of any assistance?
First of all is your product something that needs manufacturing? If so, you may want to take out a small business loan. Either way, I would advise you to build your own web site and market it.

Wouldn't that be extremely hard though? Even with the small business loan we'd have to find a company that manufactures electronics and then go from there. I've tried looking and talking to different companies that I found on the net. How else can I go about this? By the way thanks for the suggestions.
honeslty this is the wrong forum

..look for some small-business advice type message board.

I definitely cosign h16h ... I took a business class once and I only lasted for a day. I would definitely do some research. I do know this ... big corporations aren't usually too eager to take on a new product or product enhancements by someone outside of the company unless it has a track record of being successful. This is just my observation especially in tech which is the fast moving and finicky industry. Think of the Google buys YouTube deal. If YouTube went to Google to pitch their idea before launching and becoming popular, do you think they would have bought YouTube then?
As far as manufacturing, again, you have to research perhaps even front the money for one or a few prototypes if it is a hardware component. Also, if you haven't already done it, I'd make detailed notes on your product, put it all on disc and mail to yourself for copyright purposes. Considering that you have already contacted companies, I recommend that you do a draft immediately and also include the email records you've sent. You don't want someone to cop your idea and bank off your hard work and bright ideas. I also recommend that you do extensive research to see if it has already been done or if it's in the works. You really don't want to waste time working on something and you can't profit.
I am curious of what you have found, but I understand if it you wish not to disclose it.

The first thing you need to do is get a patent.

Exactly....thats what I would have told you too. You don't want anyone stealing your ideas. Get that ASAP.
Another thing you could do is setup a meeting with a Business Lawyer. They tell you in's and out's about starting you small business.
But the number one thing would be just to go to your library and do some research on small businesses and how they started. What steps it took to start them. etc.

It has a patent pending. I've seen a few items with a patent pending. I do understand the youtube.com thing, it does make sense. This is going to be harder than I thought. Again thanks for your suggestions.

Yes it may be hard right now, but stay focused on the prize. I hope everything works out alright.
