The Mets go in limping into this series, losing 9 out of 10, while the Yankees have won 9 in a row. The Mets took 2 out of 3 at Shea against the Yanks who will be looking to pay them back this weekend at Yankee Stadium. The first game looks like it will be an entertaining pitching match up featuring the second relaunch of Roger Clemens, while the Mets counter with their young lefty Oliver Perez. The Mets' offense has been erratic at best not scoring at all in the Dodgers' series, in which they were swept. The Yankees have been taking advantage of their soft schedule the last couple of games sweeping the D'backs and the Pirates at home. The Mets horrible play the last couple of days has let everyone catch up to them in the N.L. East and has not only the Braves but the Phillies breathing down their next. The Mets must get it together sooner or they will be heading out of first place. The Braves suffered a complete meltdown in Minnesota yesterday losing in the ninth after coming into the inning winning by 2 runs. Bob Wickman blew the game and gave up 3 runs to offensively challenged Twins. The Braves now trail the Mets by 2 1/2 games, while the Phillies are now in second down 2 games by the Mets. Lets hope the Mets can remember how to score or this could be a long weekend for Mets' fans.
