http://www.realgmbaseball.com/images/mlb/4.2/wiretap/team/nyy_40.gifScott Boras is reportedly looking for a 12-year deal at $30 million per year for Alex Rodriguez.

The Yankees were prepared to offer a five-year extension of approximately $28 million per year, which would have tied him up for eight years.

Because the Yankees are over the luxury tax, they have to pay an additional 40 cents on the dollar for every contract they sign.

By subtracting out the three-years where the Rangers are partially responsible, the difference is $230 million in the luxury tax alone.
