^^i couldnt think of a more perfect question T... and for that reason i always refered to this thread as the 'intelects' thread... but the title of this forum doesnt have the inverted commas...
...peoples definititions will most probably vary heaps...
my view is that everything that one could ever learn is accessable at every moment... so in conclusion all knowledge could be 'intellectual'...
once i think about the question a little more im might elaborate further....

To me, there's is no real intelligence, a friend of mine, she was drunk tho, called me pseudo-intelligent, and that made me think about what intelligence is. Aren't Socrates (wasn't it him?) right when he said; When you know you nothing know, you know everything?

I don't know. But I learned that the more you know, the more you don't know, you know?

I agree. Intelligence is knowing that you know nothing.

Intelligence is not something that can be measured by standardized testing entirely. I believe that it can be measured by standardized testing and life experience. There are things that I know now at 23 that I didn't know at 16 and that is based off of life experience. My IQ, I doubt has changed one bit.

According to freedictionary.com:
inˇtelˇliˇgence (n-tl-jns)
n.
1.
a. The capacity to acquire and apply knowledge.
b. The faculty of thought and reason.
c. Superior powers of mind. See Synonyms at mind.
2. An intelligent, incorporeal being, especially an angel.
3. Information; news. See Synonyms at news.
4.
a. Secret information, especially about an actual or potential enemy.
b. An agency, staff, or office employed in gathering such information.
c. Espionage agents, organizations, and activities considered as a group: "Intelligence is nothing if not an institutionalized black market in perishable commodities" John le Carré.
^^^That's what intelligence is, and could be. Of course, there are different types of intelligence, such as emotional intelligence
According to Psychologist Howard Gardner there can be seven types of intelligence:
Musical
Kinetic
Interpersonal
Intrapersonal
Logical-Mathematical
Linguistic
Spatial
*also Nature can be added.
Though I have not answered dirteclty what intelligence is, one can now assume it is not as direct as one might think in narrowing down to one answer.

knowing what u know and what u dont know is the mark of an intelligent man.
knowing what u know and what u dont know is the mark of an intelligent man.
"More wise is the man who knows that he is a fool, than a men who thinks himself wise but really is a fool"
when do you cross the border of being in "normal knowledge" and starts being intelligent?
Damn that's a good question. I think an intelligent person isn't someone who knows it all. Intelligence is not about just knowing, but more so understanding and especially with the ability to use knowledge gained.
I know it pisses me off when intelligent ppl are arrogant. Anyone who is truly intelligent knows no one person knows it all. I've never known a truly intelligent person who couldn't say "You know, I don't know." because by being intelligent one must also admit to their own limitations.

Isn't intelligence also the ability to mold what knowledge you have, into kindergarden language?
If we take scientific knowledge, isn't the most intelligent scientist, the one who's is able to explain to people and make them understand that?
And if so, aren't teachers supposed to be the most intelligent people in the society?

^^i would consider that more as understanding.... but seein understandin is a key aspect of intelligence its all relivant.
understanding and being able to apply knowledge you have is intelligence...to me...its not how much you know...what good is having knowledge if you dont do anything with it?
