While some might think it strange to celebrate the reversal of nature and denial of motherhood, Toni relishes her decision with an almost religious zeal.
"Having children is selfish. It's all about maintaining your genetic line at the expense of the planet," says Toni, 35.
"Every person who is born uses more food, more water, more land, more fossil fuels, more trees and produces more rubbish, more pollution, more greenhouse gases, and adds to the problem of over-population."

Maybe I am old-school, but I consider having children to be one of the most selfless thing you can do because it means that you think enough of your partner to create life with them... anyway, discuss...

Originality at it's finest in this thread ... anyway kids are great , there a gift , I don't see how you could be considered selfish when your having a kid , because I had nice things before my first kid got here , and now Everything I make goes to her , and I wouldn't have it any other way.

It's not selfish it's a God given commandment. God even told man to mate and replenish the earth to Bring him glory. So how can pleasing God be selfish?

Having children is a beautiful thing, but if you take China for instance where theres about a billion plus, they are only allowed to have one child. In this case if there was no restrictions, it would be selfish if people there had 5 and 6 kids, knowing this would only cause starvation and less resources to the current and future generation.
Is having children selfish?
Absolutely not. I'm so glad my parents decided the same and because of it I'm forever in debt to them.

Most, if not All, of my friends are parents now.....It's pretty crazy we're the Class of '02 and every1 has kids and r engaged.....
Most made the right decision because they were stable and financialy set (all of my peoples)........props to them.....
I just spoiled my nephew...bought him Ratotuille on DVD and the cookie monster doll from kb toys.....
BUT for the people that just go ahead and fuck, get a high on sex and realize they created a seed for benefits, housing, and overall money from the government....pssst........fuck them with no kiss
i have absolutley no respect for you, your baby father, and whatever u "stand for" which is money for diapers and baby food.......get a life
any1 can get a job.....stop making babies and do u

Many people are undoubtedly selfish when it comes to having children but not for those reasons, imo. Sure, the planet may be overpopulated but as people are born in others are dying out.

hey! this intellect forum thingy is kinda like a do-over as i assume everyone's an intellect but im pretty sure im wrong about that. k that said why would anyone want 2 have kids except 4 selfish reasons? i know im not having any. parents bring kids into this crazy, world of sin without their permission then either die n live 'em heartbroken or lose 'em n be the heartbroken ones. then what happens after u die? no parent is certain about that n i think thats what really matters.

To me this is the most retarded shit ever...
If that 35 year old Tori chick truly believes that every baby's consumation of food, water, and resources is such a detriment then I say shut the fuck up and kill yourself so the remaining humans on the planet can use the resources she sacrifices.
"Humanitarians" are the stupidest people on Earth sometimes.
