In dangerous minds we hear that our world is based on choices, i thought about that and basicly agreed with it, but then came to the thought: Can you choose to do nothing?

Simply put, no.

Your doing something whether you like to or not: you're breathing, and if you hold your breath to not breathe your'e stopping yourself from breathing which is still an action.

...see that one reason why i dont believe in the system of karma.... shit doesnt make sense to me.
...because by not doing anything you are still affecting others...like the example elcount gave doing nothing is still something....

You both broke that shit down to much... If I'm in a situation where I see a woman getting raped but I don't do shit, is it, or is it not, an oxymoron to say; I chose to do nothing about it?

I feel we agree on it, but you both missed my real point, so to speak

Certain things we cannot choose to do. You either do it or die. But situations like seeing someone get their ass kicked, raped, kidnapped, etc ... I'd have to make a choice based on the simple question "If it was me, what would I want to someone else do for me?"

I don't think I can just sit back and see something like that happen and do nothing. Yet, to an extent, I have to take my own safety into consideration. I'd probably choose the safest choice for everyone involved.
