Yesterday a Dutch football player got tackled by another player in a match leaving him unable to ever play football again. The player commiting the tackle got 6 months jail time. This has left a debate (in Denmark at least) about if the violence in sport is just as serious as violence in "life".
What do you think? Should a violent tackle with the intent to harm the other person be treated just like violence in the streets?

its debatable. what do you do with hockey, boxing, mma? baseball brawls sometimes, but rarely, cross the line (jose offerman) and sometimes are just a part of the game.

Everything is debatable, but what do you think?

lol trade. i think theres a bit of a language barrier. i guess i could of been more straight forward. there is no black or white. there are gray areas. some incidents should be prosecuted when there is malicious intent. jose offerman should of definitely been prosecuted. other incidents have to be seen as just part of the game. i would have to see video of the incident you are talking about to form an opinion on whether or not the player should be charged with a crime or not

I thought you might've ment it that way...
But is "heat of the battle" really an exuse to execute violence?

which football player? I didnt hear of this. What you describe is something that happened last year, but can't recall it this year. So whos the football player?
Anyway, accidents IN SPORT can happen. You cant really compare a tackle gone brutally wrong with a gun accidentally go off, cause you shouldn't have the gun in ur hand in the first place.
I play football myself and have broken several bones while playing. I hold no grudges. SHit just can happen. It happened the other way around aswell...I've made tackles to prevend someone for goin to the goal and they left the field injured. Like that D-12 song...shit can happen.
The thing you should be asking yourself is; is it worht ur tax money that a bunch of people start a debate bout it?
