There's this kid on my block who started playin' handball like 2 years ago, I'm pretty nice at handball so I keep an eye out for the young bloods around my way comin' up.
Anyways, first month or two he played I wasn't acknowledging him, then after a few months I couldn't ignore him anymore and had to give him his props, he was advancing further and faster than the other kids his age, and his commitment was stronger, it was obvious he had a real passion for the sport and he'd be playing it for years to come.
So I took him under my tutelage, something I only do to kids who have a real commitment to it.
I teach him alotta fundamentals, techniques and shit.
Now I'm by all mean no perfect handball player but I do the best I can, tryin' to improve.
But I'm seein' he's startin' to follow my mistakes now, and my bad habits. Like cursin' loudly and getting pissed off when you fuck up shots, he also rushes alot of shots fast and strong without thinking about placement and displacement, he doesn't think period when he hits with his left, these are all errors I had in the past, some of which I still make on a smaller scale than him.
Anyways, I try to constructly criticize him and advise him on his trivial mistakes, and keep him conscious of his errors, only I think I might be pushing him when I talk so much, I'm thinkin' he might be better off if I fell back from teaching him and letting him do his own thing for a couple months.
I don't wanna push the kid, but I don't wanna see him fuck up, not just in handball but in life. He's starting high school this year, and he's staying at his junior high school which just recently started taking in kids grades 9-12. Nothing can be worse for him, he's going to a school that's new to being a HS, also his school won't have a handball team, and he is real serious about handball. I'm trying to get him to transfer by the 2nd semester so he can go to a school with a handball team, and play handball his freshman year. He's also staying at the junior high cuz he has some lil puppy love jumpoff there, dude's obviously young and naive, but I almost feel like I'm puttin a gun to his head telling him the way shit is.
