According to this article

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=aHx9vZa0IJAo&refer=home

The price of AIG stock went down to $.45 due to it's risky trading. The article also states that the gov is going to rebuild it out of necessity. We know its not out of fondness b/c Berneke is outraged by the firm.

So the price is low, and it going to get rebuilt by the gov..so in the future the price should be higher....

my question is if this is a good time to buy that?

lol you do realize how huge the risk is?

AIG could go bankrupt anyday...I'm not saying the stock can't rally and go back past a dollar but it definitely can't do it without government stepping in...

I would stay the fuck away from that stock if I were you.

You'd be alot safer doing risky trades with the other financials, which still isn't the greatest bet ever.

but the gov is stepping in..that's my whole point. if it's in the gov't's will to keep this brand alive, it has that extra layer of "security"..im used to analyzing it from a economist POV, this is why im asking financial heads

On February 27, 2009 Citigroup announced that the United States government would be taking a 36% equity stake in the company by converting $25 billion in emergency aid into common shares. Citigroup shares dropped 40% on the news.

Not to mention the previous $25 billion Citi got from TARP money.

There are alot safer and still risky moves you could make right now.

---------------

You're line of thinking makes sense.

The government can step in and inject as much capital into the bank as possible, so even if our money is devalued, the bank will still be protected from insolvency.

That doesn't mean the stock will be driven up anytime soon.

Just look at Citigroup and Bank of America. Their stocks haven't exactly rallied.

i'm talking long term investments, not day to day peaks and troughs. Also at .45 cents u can buy a whole with under 3gs. Wait a few yrs and after the down cycle reaches its limit, AIG may thrive. it's totally speculatory but what isnt?

If you tell me "I told you so" in a year or two I'll be happy for you.

But only if you invested in the stock =]

this is similar to whats going on with LLoyds banking group and the UK Government

if u look at it economically then you tell yourself, in a year or two the stocks will rise back up but in the mean time you dont want to deal with the risk that the stocks are facing right now...id say keep away and just look out for other stocks....AIG might go bankrupt...they are not renewing any of their contracts at this moment...bcuz nobody is really sure of whats going to happen..be smart and invest wisely...

I NEED A FUCKING JOB NOW...its so hard

dude new information led me to tell you this since stocks also depend on new information

buy stocks right now because they will have greater value later in the future....you will be able to flip your money...the stocks right now can't get much worse than they are...but you have to be patient..

peace..
