Ravens Waive Jamal Lewis, Hope To Re-Sign Him
28th February, 2007 - 6:29 pm

http://www.realgmfootball.com/images/nfl/4.2/profiles/logos/bal_pp.gifNFL.com - The Ravens have waived running back Jamal Lewis, general manager and executive vice president Ozzie Newsome announced today.

But, just one day before the start of free agency, that doesn't mean that the seven-year veteran won't don a Ravens' jersey in the future. Newsome expressed his desire to re-sign Lewis sometime this offseason.

"We are involved in negotiations with Jamal, and there has been good dialogue," said Newsome. "Jamal has been a significant contributor to us in the last seven seasons."

They're letting Jamal test the free agency waters, and depending on the job offers he gets, and the RB options the Ravens have, he may or may not be a Raven next year.

Chances are that he is gone for good now though, from the Ravens atleast.

Yeah don't know if that was a good idea for them to drop him. But teams do it all the time so....
