Some trivia about the film first:

Empire: the film ranked 5th in 2004 and 1st in 2006 on the lists for greatest movie of all time

voted by the registered users of the Internet Movie Database as one of the greatest movies ever made

In the 1994 Academy Awards the movie was nominated for seven awards: Best Picture, Best Actor–Morgan Freeman, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Original Score, and Best Sound.

I saw it yesterday and its a amazing film.
Morgan freeman's actin was amaing and i thought the other actor was good aswell
whats good about the film i thought, was that they didn't overplay the emotion at all, infact they underplayed it - there were millions of oppurtunities for the directors to over dramatise and the fact they they did the opposite and let the audience feel all the emotion is really effective i thought

on the downside, the plot is a bit linear, his escape plan wasn;t genius

otherwise i liked everything: casting - dialogue - situations and sceneary

a great film

i loved shawshank, the way "andy" used the wardon and the guards and the whole time they thought they were getting over on him.

This film did horrible box office when it first came out. It's popularity grew from online buzz, and deservedly became an American classic.
